About Gilbert Arizona

Located in the central part of the East Valley, Gilbert owes its beginnings to William Gilbert who provided land in 1902 to construct a rail line between Phoenix and Florence. Growth was fueled by the rail line and construction of the Roosevelt Dam and the Eastern and Consolidated Canals which provided water for farming. It remained an agricultural town for many years, and was incorporated in July 1920. It wasn’t until the 1980’s that Gilbert started growing into the community we see today.
